Mr. Bashir Ahmed, Personal Assistant to Nigeria’s President on Digital and New Media, has visited Publisher of Daily Nigerian, Jaafar Jaafar, in London. Both men are from Kano State, Nigeria.
Mr. Jaafar Jaafar left the country over his safety because of videos his online newspaper published where Governor Ganduje of Kano was seen collecting bribe from contractors. Governor Ganduje had quickly taken the publisher and his organization to court but few weeks ago the court granted Mr. Jaafar N800,000 after Gov. Ganduje’s lawyer asked for withdrawal of the case.
During the presidential election debate President Buhari who was looking for support in Kano defended his party man saying he wasn’t sure if the video was fake or real despite the secret police authenticating that it wasn’t fake.
NEWISSUES have not been able to verify what Jaafar and Bashir discuss but it looks like a friendly meeting.
President Buhari is in London for medical tourism. London has been his regularly place where he goes to see his doctor as doctors. Presently doctors in Nigeria have been on strike on their welfare which has been the regular norm in the past years.
