Jega comparison of APC and PDP, By Aliyu Nuhu

Former INEC chairman Attahiru Jega said APC and PDP were one and same in terms of corruption. Well APC has completed one full term in office and is in the second one.

Under APC there were corruption scandals, some are still under investigation. The APC men are as corrupt as PDP men but stealing has reduced due to lack of opportunities. At least the man in charge did not open the vaults for free for all stealing and even if we have to shout and shout before he acts,at least he punished his officials for stealing.

The argument is that APC’s stealing will only be known after it leaves power. I disagree with that because PDP’s stealing were known when it was in power. Nigeria has one of the freest press in the world.

Now let’s take a look at the last PDP government under Jonathan administration for the sake of comparison.

Bring out all the lootings of this APC government and put on scale and draw conclusion.

1- There was $2.2 billion illegally withdrawn from Excess Crude Oil Accounts,of which $1 billion was supposedly approved by President Jonathan to fund his reelection campaign without the knowledge of the National Economic Council made up of state governors and the president and vice president.

2- NEITI discovered $11.6 billion was missing from Nigeria LNG Company dividend payments.

3- About 60 million barrels of oil valued at $13.7 billion was stolen under the watch NNPC from 2009 to 2012.

3- NEITI indicates losses due to crude swaps for domestic crude allocation from 2005 to 2012 which indicated that $11.63 billion had been paid to the NNPC but that there was no evidence of the money being remitted to the federation account.

4- Diversion of 60% of $1 billion foreign loans obtained from the Chinese by the Ministry of Finance.

5- Massive scam in weapons and defense procurements, and misuse of 3 trillion naira defense budget since 2011 under the guise of fighting Boko Haram.

6- Diversion of $2.2 million vaccination medicine fund, by Ministry of Health.

7- Diversion of Ebola fighting fund up to 1.9 bn naira.

8- NIMASA fraud under investigation by EFCC, inclusive of accusation of funding PDP and buying a small piece of land for 13 billion naira.Ministry of Finance led by Okonjo Iweala hurried payment of $2.2 million to health ministry contractor in disputed invoices.
