Nigerians continue to ask questions over silence of Sharia Police (Hisbah) over the dress worn by the bride of Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari. Her wedding dress has been the topic on social media since some of her wedding photos were splashed on Facebook.
From North to South, Nigerians have asked why Hisbah and fashion police on social media who usually attack daughters of the poor over their dress have been quiet this time, especially Hisbah who usually take it upon themselves to harrass and arrest outrageously.
Kannywood star Rahama Sadau was attacked for sharing photos of hers on Instagram with fanatics, trolls, asking her to pull the photos down as they are unIslamic. In fact some even claimed her dressing caused someone to blaspheme against Islam.
Hisbah have been seen arresting young men in Kano and shaving their hair because they see them as unIslamic. One barber was caught and taken to prison for barbing a style that looks like an Arabic inscription. It took the interference of Senator Abba Moro, the senator from Zone C, Benue State, where the boy comes from before the young barber was released.
Haruna Abubakar Bebeji, Northern Youth Interactive Forum said, “His excellency commander General where are you going to be tsula like this in Kano, the town of Islam, the town of lovers of the prophet of Allah SAW. We will be unable to hear tomorrow Friday at our mosque and hear the kind of preaching our Imam. Tomorrow we will examine Sunnah teachers and government teachers. If it was a movie or a poor man’s daughter, we would have been filled with radio and social media pages: Allah said, The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said!
We hear, we see, and we listen!”
Many people from all over the country have expressed such views. Hisbah have been quiet.
