Massive Crowd attended burial Of man killed by Civilian JTF Over borno’s Demolished church

Massive crowd attended the burial of Ezekiel Bitrus who was shot and killed by Civilian JTF under Borno Geographical Information Services (BOGIS) as they stormed EYN church and demolished the church on 5th August, 2021.

Massive turnout as Christians bury 28 years old Ezekiel Bulls killed by Borno’s BOGIS.

Governor Umara Babagana Zulum has asked for investigation into the matter. Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno Chapter have condemned the demolition of the church and asked the government to fix it when they called for peace.

Despite the demolition, EYN members and other Christians used the deemolished church as venue for Sunday service

The demolition of the church has brought up issues of how indigenous Christians are treated as if they did not exist in Borno State. NEWISSUES had earlier reported how Christian programs are not shown on state owned radio and television but Muslims programs are shown daily, especially during Ramadan when the state radio and television mostly show Tafsir.

In response to the demolition some people have continued to post pictures of mosques demolished by the Borno State government but they haven’t said if the mosques in question have Certificate of Occupancy like the EYN church that was demolished without prior notice.

Some members of the EYN church confirmed to NEWISSUES that the domolition of the church was done deliberately because they had heard stories of some politicians talking about demolishing churches and making sure more churches are not built in Maiduguri.
