Immigration To Install Surveliance Cameras In 84 Border Posts -Babandede

In their sustained efforts towards checking irregular migration, the Controller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS Muhammad Babandede, said in Sokoto  that, they will soon embark on an e-project that will help nip in the bud that ugly trend.

Babandede who emphatically said irregular migrants without valid documents should be prosecuted, added that, nobody is allowed to stay in your country without obtaining necessary permits.

The e-border project, according to him shall include the installation of surveillance cameras that will view 5Km distance across 84 border post in the country.

Speaking after Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal commissioned the Command’s new office complex, Babandede added that the e- border project shall include, Mega, Mini and Midi.

While stressing that the e-border project will equally enable patrol vehicles to transmit all their activities at the border post to the Immigration National Headquarters, Abuja, and by that, they will be able to notify other security agencies to beaf up security in certain areas when necessary.

The NIS Comtroller General also disclosed that they have commenced test running of the e-border project in Illela border of Sokoto state as a pilot after which it will be extended to others.

“The e-border pilot project had commenced with Illela border and in the next coming one year all other 84 locations across the country would be properly installed and operational which would be a huge investment to national security”

While noting that the new office complex that is being commssioned in Sokoto NIS was in fulfilment of his promise to establish two each year, Babandede underscored the improtance of conductive working environment which according to him help boost staff morales to deliver optimally. 

Thr Immigration boss who also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his foresight and support to the nation’s secueity agencies appealed to his officers to shun any form of corruption and carry oit their jobs professionally.

Speaking before commissioning the new office complex,  Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal applauded Controller Babandede for his giant strides towards transforming NIS to a reputable agency that will help increase revenue yo the nation as well.
