Inibehe Effiong caution Gov. Udom Emmanuel over plan to demolish church because pastor speaks out

Human Rights Activist and Lawyer, Mr. Inibehe Effiong, has cautioned Governor Udom Emmanuel to tread carefully over his plan to demolish Holy Ghost Ambassadors Ministry International, a church which has been in the same location for a decade.

Barrister Inibehe in Church

“Since he assumed office in 2015, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) did not see anything wrong with this Church’s building until its founder, Apostle Nyeneime Andy started speaking out against the insulting and provocative efforts by the governor to impose a stooge on a State of over 6 million people in the name of a successor.” Mr. Effiong wrote on his social media page showing photos of his visit to.the church.

“Suddenly, UCCDA is alleging that the Church building does not meet “building standards” (they have not said exactly what that means). The government gave the Church 7 days demolition notice. The motive of this action is as clear as crystal. It’s done in bad faith, actuated by malice and is nothing but persecution and victimization.

“This is the same governor that has been shielding his friend Apostle Akan Weeks from prosecution by the state despite his indictment by the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the collapse of the Reigners Bible Church which led to multiple deaths.

“Instead of focusing on development, Udom Emmanuel is now ferociously deploying State resources to pursue a senseless succession agenda. It is so annoying to watch these people go about as if Akwa Ibom State is their personal fiefdom or their fathers’ property.” Mr. Inibehe also task the governor to complete the uncompleted road projects in Akwa Ibom State and focus on his work and leaving a legacy.

READ ENIBEHE’S NOTE BELOW:

I attended Church service yesterday at Holy Ghost Ambassadors Ministry International to fellowship with the members of the Church in solidarity over the malicious threat by Akwa Ibom State Government to demolish the building of the Church which has been at the same location for over a decade.

Politicians in Akwa Ibom State have an arrogant sense of superiority and false invincibility. They believe they own the resources of the State and that it is a partisan affair.

Since he assumed office in 2015, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) did not see anything wrong with this Church’s building until its founder, Apostle Nyeneime Andy started speaking out against the insulting and provocative efforts by the governor to impose a stooge on a State of over 6 million people in the name of a successor.

Suddenly, UCCDA is alleging that the Church building does not meet “building standards” (they have not said exactly what that means). The government gave the Church 7 days demolition notice. The motive of this action is as clear as crystal. It’s done in bad faith, actuated by malice and is nothing but persecution and victimization.

This is the same governor that has been shielding his friend Apostle Akan Weeks from prosecution by the state despite his indictment by the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the collapse of the Reigners Bible Church which led to multiple deaths.

The same governor that is using and manipulating religion for his partisan objectives is now pretending that he wants to enforce building standards.

Look at the mess that Uyo and other parts of the State has become due to the shameful failure of this governor to complete most of the few road projects he has initiated.

Instead of focusing on development, Udom Emmanuel is now ferociously deploying State resources to pursue a senseless succession agenda. It is so annoying to watch these people go about as if Akwa Ibom State is their personal fiefdom or their fathers’ property.

Instead of inaugurating projects, the governor and his supporters are now inaugurating their 2023 succession organization (the so-called Peace Maintenance Movement) across the State.

Apostle Nyeneime Andy has not said anything out of the world. He merely reiterated what any sensible, decent and democratic citizen should say by stating that no single individual will impose a governor on Akwa Ibom people in 2023.

Before Godswill Akpabio violently and wickedly imposed Udom on the people of the State in 2015, the name Udom Emmanuel was not known in Akwa Ibom. He was a Lagos-based banker who only cared about himself and his family.

The same man now feels he can just have his way by repeating the antics of Akpabio. Udom Emmanuel feels he is next to God. He thinks we are all stupid in Akwa Ibom and that he is the most knowledgeable person.

Instead of going after Apostle Andy and his Church, Udom Emmanuel at this point should be bothered about the verdict of history. He should be thinking about legacy. He should be worried that as a banker, he has accumulated more debts for the State and has failed to deliver on governance.
