Shiekh Jafar’s son died as an atheist

Hassan Rasheed, probably fake name on Facebook, has revealed that Malik Jabson, real name Abdulmalik Jafar Adam, son of the popular late Sheikh Jafar who was killed in a Kano mosque by Boko Haram was an atheist.

Abdulmalik Jafar Adam died about a year ago and was buried as a Muslim, revealed Hassan Rasheed. He suspected the family of Abdulmalik Jafar Adam knew he was an atheist and decided to take him out so that he doesn’t embarrass the family. Hassan Rasheed referred to it as ‘mercy killing.’

“This is Malik Jabson, his real name is Abdulmalik Jafar Adam, the son of the popular Muslim cleric in Kano. His father was gunned down by Boko Haram for betraying them by not fighting alongside them despite being a pioneer promoter of Jihad in northern Nigeria. The son was a big fan of Neil deGresse Tyson, Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins. He loved science, astronomy and after years of research, just like most of us, he discovered that religion was a scam invented by humans to enslave and control the society. He became an atheist but had to hide his identity given that his father was a popular cleric and he could be targeted for his belief and he was not ready to take that risk. I and Mubarak Bala were among a very few people who were actively in touch with him. He adopted a pen name, Malik Jabson on his Twitter account where he promoted his humanist values secretly.”

THIS IS HASSAN RASHEED’S POST BELOW

Remembering a Friend, Malik Jabson.

I wanted to conceal this for long since the death of this young guy in a ghastly motor accident exactly one year ago, but as his true confidante, it would be an insult to what he had stood for if people continued to think he died a Muslim.

This is Malik Jabson, his real name is Abdulmalik Jafar Adam, the son of the popular Muslim cleric in Kano. He adopted a pen name, Malik Jabson on his Twitter account where he promoted his humanist values secretly.

He was at the forefront of a campaign to free Mubarak Bala when he was arrested in Kaduna and later transfered to Kano for blasphemy.

But sadly, his girlfriend tipped him off to his family when he told her he used to laugh at people who think there is life after death especially people dreaming of luscious life in paradise. The parent and his relatives were taken aback by the revelation, but they started stalking him without his knowledge, spying on his contacts and came to believe firmly that he was actually an active atheist who was strongly sympathetic to Mubarak Bala, the most hated ex-Muslim in Kano. The family worried he would sooner or later come out just like our brother Mubarak Bala did. That’s how he was rid of.

There are lot of unanswered questions that trailed his death in the auto crash but to us, our friend Malik Jabson was a victim of honor killing. He was buried according to Islamic rites with many followers of Sheikh Jafar Mahmood Adam seeing him as true Muslim who died a hero like his father.

To acknowledge this unfair immortalization of our member haunts me for a year but to be silent forever is what we cannot do. Malik Jabson is dead but the world needs to know that he was ours, not a Muslim.
