BOKO Haram have released a video to confirm that they are in custody of the kidnapped over 300 students from a boarding secondary school in Kankara, Katsina State. They had earlier made a video claiming they were the group that kidnapped the students but the Nigerian government said it wasn’t likely. Major General Enenche, army spokesman said it was unlikely. Katsina governor said the kidnappers were definitely bandits and they are talking with them, but he didn’t completely dispel the story that they may be in collaboration with Boko Haram.
In the video the students were seen pleading with government to rescue them and asking that the government keep away helicopter and stop the chase.
Over the years the bandits have been linked to BOKO haram but the Buhari administration have continued to say they are different.
