A fake medical doctor who claims to be a surgeon practising in Texas has been exposed on social media by several medical doctors. Ini Okon who calls himself Dr. Brainy on Facebook is being called out to prove he is a surgeon as he has claimed over the years, but the young man has simply disappeared online.
Ini Okon stated his qualifications as MD, MSc-PhD(c) Aspiring Neurologeon, ending with quoting Jeremiah 29:11, a bible verse.
Ini Okon specialises in publishing medical journals of which he charges certain amounts of money to publish articles of doctors in Nigeria his journals. He splashed photos of different seminars on his Facebook page, and links to articles published in these journals.
In some photos, he posted on Facebook he wrote, “Just had a great meal before neurosurgery duties begin.”
One Dr. Pecking writing on Facebook has reported that Ini Okon was fake and a Polytechnic student who had bad grades. In his post he tagged the police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom State, John Timfon, ans urge the authority to investigate the matter. He also called the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria part of the problem, aiding frausters because they made it impossible to check the names of doctors on their platform, charging N20,000 to check the name of their members. He said in it is free in the United Kingdom.
Other doctors blame the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for not being interested in checking their members.
Ini Okon has been mute since he was accused. People wondered how he was able to convince and deceive many doctors since 2022. The answer may be in his photos on social media.
