It’s unfortunate that some section of the print and social media is awash with allegations of diversion of relief packages donated by the Wife of the President, H.E Hajiya Aisha Buhari through her pet project ‘Future Assured’ to parents of slain students by Boko Haram insurgents at Federal Government College, Buni Yadi against Hon Khadijah Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

While one recognizes the freedom of the press to investigate and report on any matter so as to strengthen our democracy and good governance, it is futile and counter productive to try a reputable and hard working woman of her caliber in the social media especially when facts are not properly cross checked before being reported. Accusing fingers are pointed – albeit in the wrong direction.

When the news broke out, a lot of people especially my colleagues called to hear from me the side of Khadija but i ignore because it’s not our business to respond to unsubstantiated, mischievous, wicked and deliverately crafted an attempt to tarnish her good name.

As everybody knows pretty well Hon Khadija the great woman and a mother for that matter, would not stoop so low to pocket a paltry 19m meant for victims of Boko Haram, a money she can easily dash for the people without bkinking of an eye.

It’s not lost on me that there is always a price for even been good.No matter how good you are some people don’t appreciate and always find a way to drag your good name to the mud. It seems so appealing and, for some its a tool for their own rise to fame. But for many who are ready to praise and clap for a good work when they see it and always careful in pointing accusing fingers even if something has gone wrong.

But, let me remind the blinded eyes and hardened hearts those who engage in unethical criticism and the penchant for pull- him-down-at-all-cost that this is not the first time Hon Khadija delivered relief packages to IDPs in the North East.

It was in the wake of the serious and mounting humanitarian crisis in the North East as a result of the devastation by the Boko Haram insurgency that Hon Khadija as a Minister of State Foreign Affairs seek for more interventions and had received several relief materials and foods running into billions of Naira from many countries and delivered it to the North East for onward distribution to the IDPs and other victims of the insurgency. She took initiatives appealed to many countries and the results were very glaring.

It is in the record that throughout her meritorious service to the fatherland as Hon Minister of State Foreign Affairs, Hon Khadija has been busy delivering food and non food items to the State Committee on Rehabilitation and Resettlement of IDPs under the office of the Deputy Governor.

It will be recalled that at the tail end of tenure of the last administration, Hon Khadija was in Damaturu in the company of the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria delivered foodstuffs and relief materials worth billions of naira to IDPs in the North East. The occasion was organized in Maiduguri and is well attended. A week later she came with the Ambassador of China and delivered food items to the Yobe and Borno State Government the list is endless.

It is therefore, very unfortunate and indeed sad to note that, if people cannot praise her for her effort in mobilising relief materials for IDPs at a time of worst humanitarian crisis then they shouldn’t accuse her of a money she can easily dole out for the sake of her people. I have seen Hon Khadija at home in Sabon Pegi dolling out millions to her constituents in Damaturu, Gujba, Gulani, and Tarmuwa a period not for elections.

Hon Khadija has been selfless in her work to help the poor, needy and the Internally Displaced Persons in the society where she had mobilized lots of interventions projects aim at helping the people particularly in the North East. Therefore, it is very surprising the singling out of the FGC Buni Yadi issue and the furore that is generating in the social media and among the people.

I want to call on all parties to refrain from pointing accusing fingers at the Hon Khadijah Bukar Abba Ibrahim from any wrongdoing as far as the issue of the FGC Buni Yadi is concern.

The Yobe State Government has clear the air by disclosing that she has delivered the relief packages to the State Government and it was subsequently disbursed through the Committee on Rehabilitation and Resettlent of IDPs.
