Adams Oshiomole received a rude shock yesterday as the court in Abuja ordered his suspension. As it stands right now he is on suspension. He is not the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC). The National Vice Chairman of the APC, North East, Salihu Mustapha, has quickly come to the media to accuse Adams Oshiomole of trying to announce a new National Secretary. Mr Mustapha said by virtue of the court’s order, any decision taken by Mr Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the ruling party is illegal.

Adams Oshiomole has been fighting the government of Edo State, his successor, for a while. The APC in Edo State would later suspend Mr. Oshiomole but he said it was one faction of the party controlled by the governor. The case had gone to court with the court yesterday hammering Adams Oshiomole with that facts that he is under suspension as National Chairman of the APC.

Adams Oshiomole’s worries is not just Edo but Abuja, where they are obviously people eyeing his seat. There has been talk in some quarters of his sack for his inability to unite the party and instead he is part of those causing disintegration in the party with his fight to remove the governor of Edo State and put someone he favours. Some members of the party felt he should step down.

Others blame him for making the party lose some of the APC states to the PDP. Adams Oshiomole may be a successful labour leader, being the National Chairman of the APC has not been easy task. His problem has not been the opposition but within his party. Even the wife of the President accused him of being part of those who manipulated the gubernatorial primaries in her Adamawa State when her brother lost to former Governor Bindow. Mr. Bindow would later lose the main election to the PDP candidate.

Even as Adams Oshiomole was on suspension, the APC went ahead to chose its secretary. How much of it was influenced by Oshiomole is not known right now, but the presidency favoured the new acting National Secretary, Mr. Waziri Bulama.

There has been quiet tussle between Borno and Yobe over who should take over as National Secretary after the former, Mr. Mai Mala Buni, won the governorship election in Yobe State, with the president and presidency touting for Mr. Bulama. Mr. Bulama has been with President Buhari since his CPC days.

From what’s happening it shows that Adams Oshiomole has made himself enemies both in Edo and Abuja. In the dirty sea of Nigerian politics, even an Oshiomole can be thrown out permanently as the Chairman of the APC if he doesn’t play his card well.

Is this the end for Adams Oshiomole? Governor Obaseki seems to be winning for now. How much power Governor Obaseki has in Abuja would also determine Oshiomole’s fate. Everyone know Adams Oshiomole would come fighting back with everything he has got. He is that kind of person.
