The angry town of Uromi in Delta State, Nigeria, went agog as 16 Hausa hunters were accosted and arrested by vigilante group. Angry youths suddenly launched an attack on them in the midst of questioning them about what they were doing with local riffles and other weapons. It quickly escalated into the lynching and burning the hunters.
Videos and photos of the incident has gone viral all over social media.
Kidnapping activities has gone high in these areas and residents often blame Fulani herdsmen. Anyone carrying guns in that area is doomed, especially if that person is identified as Hausa or Fulani who are seen as the same.
Hausa people on social media are outraged, warning their people living in the area.
Jungle justice as Nigerians refer to lynching and burning of suspected criminals has become a common practise by the general public, and this is commonplace in Southern Nigeria.
