Katsina state government source has confirmed to NEWISSUES that the students kidnapped in a boarding school in Kankara town have been released by the abductors.
Governor Masari of Katsina State have also confirmed that the kidnapped students have been released. He earlier told Arise Television that he was sure the people his people were negotiating with to release the school boys are Bandits and not Boko Haram, but then there have been information that Boko Haram have been operating in that area for years. Boko Haram released a video this afternoon before the negotiations was finalized to show the boys were in their custody.
Multiple news sources are reporting that Kankara secondary school students kidnapped by Boko Haram who released their video earlier today have been freed.
Channel TV have a breaking news on their headline that they got reports from Katsina State government that the students have been released and are being transported to Katsina.
PR Nigeria, an online that usually has link with the Nigerian military is reporting that the students have been freed and are now in Shafe, a border town between Zamfara and Katsina States. A source involved in the release told PRNigeria that all the abducted boys of Government Secondary School, Kankara in custody been released. “The Nigerian security personnel are with them and would soon be returned to Kankara after all necessary checks.”
Abike Dabiri had earlier reported on her Twitter page that the boys have been released this afternoon but quickly deleted it, claiming her account was hacked and later tweeting that no one should quote her.
