The governor of Benue State, Mr Hycient Alia, has finally approved the N75,000 minimum wage for Benue workers.

I am delighted to announce the approval of a new minimum wage of ₦75,000 for the workers of Benue State. This decision comes after thorough discussions with organized labour to better address the concerns of our workers.

“Our aim is to empower the men and women who keep our state moving forward. As part of this commitment, the remaining arrears will also be paid, starting this November, as budgeted,” the governor wrote on social media.

“I want every worker in Benue to know that we are here for you. We are committed to ensuring that your labour is rewarded, your needs are met, and your concerns are addressed,” Alia ended his address on Facebook.

Since becoming governor, Mr. Alia has consistently paid salaries and pension, what his predecessors was not able to do, owing workers over one year six months salary sometime through out his eight years in office.
