The Secretary General to the Federation, Senator George Akume, this morning visited former Governor of Benue State, Mr. Samuel Ortom, a move many are seeing as an attempt at partnership to bring down Governor Alia in 2027.
Former spokesman to the Governor, Terver Akase, posted the photos of this 1st December 2024, early morning visit, with both men, former governors of Benue State all smiling in this weird budding relationship, considering the two were enemies until this morning.
Senator Akume and Governor Alia have been fighting each other cat and dog since the governor was sworn in and went against attempts by Senator Akume to impose certain people on him to have certain control over the affairs of the state. Akume wanted to choose the speaker of the Benue House of Assembly, certain commissioners, and control some internal revenue, close sources confided to NEWISSUES. Governor Alia rejected all that and put his people in place. The final battle, which is still raging, is the battle of who controls the chairmanship of the All Progressive Congress in Benue. Governor Alia has his own APC Chairman and Akume has his.
As Akume knows he has lost his grip on controlling Governor Alia, new alliances must be made, even with the enemy, to bring Governor Alia down. This visit to former Governor George Akume is what all this is about.
