Former US President Donald Trump is up and about following the recent assassination attempt on him but he maintains that he is supposed to be dead.

Giving his first interview after the jarring experience on Saturday, Trump told The New York Post on Sunday that it was a “very surreal experience”.

The presidential candidate who was rushed off stage at the rally in Pennsylvania’s Butler County added that he is not supposed to be here.

“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” he said to the news outlet.

While the shooter missed, Trump’s ear was grazed by the bullet and he wore a bandage over it in Sunday’s interview.

Speaking further, he disclosed that the doctor who attended to him afterwards said he had never seen anything like it, calling it a miracle.

“The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle,” Trump dished to The New York Post.

He also lauded the Secret Service, sharing that they “took him out with one shot right between the eyes”, a reference to 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks who was identified as the shooter.

“They did a fantastic job. “It’s surreal for all of us,” Trump added.
