Massive damage as Alau dam floods Maiduguri

The collapse of Alo dam in Borno State has resulted flooding in some part of the capital, Maiduguri.

Videos being shared on social media by residents also show mant parts of the city is submerged. Areas near the dam are worse affected.

The Borno State government has issued a statement saying the zoo in Maiduguri was flooded at night and dangerous animals left the zoo. There was warning to residents to be careful of animal attacks.

So far, no one knows the situation of the people most affected and what the state emergency unit is doing to ensure they are taken care of.
