UCLQ: Troost-Ekong scores winning goal for PAOK

Williams Troost-Ekong marked his return to action by scoring the winning goal as PAOK defeated Bosnian outfit Borac Banja Luka 3-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second round tie.

It was the centre-back’s first competitive game since Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final clash with hosts Cote d’ivoire.

Troost-Ekong was sidelined for around five months due to injury.

The centre-back sustained the injury at AFCON 2023.

With the game tied at 2-2, Troost-Ekong fired home the winning goal in the 51st minute.

The reverse tie will be played on Wednesday, July 31.

The winner over the two legs will advance to the third round of the competition.
