A major power outage struck Venezuela's capital, Caracas, and at least 12 other regions on Friday, impacting states like Carabobo and Aragua.

The country's Communication Minister, Freddy Nanez, attributed the blackout to “electrical sabotage” without elaborating, stating that authorities are working to restore service.

In Venezuela, blackouts are not uncommon, but they are rarely this extensive. Smaller outages that struck multiple states earlier in the week were also attributed to sabotage.

Three national blackouts, some lasting for days, occurred during the most recent significant outage in 2019, which the administration blamed on attacks on the electrical grid.

Videos on social media showed cities plunged into darkness, though their authenticity could not be immediately verified.
